A Conversation between our Two Dogs.

June (12 lb. black miniature schnauzer) – “Hey Jackson, where do you sleep at night?”

Jackson (95 lb. Chocolate Lab)- “In a hard cage made of metal and plastic. Why where do you sleep?”

June – “On several pillows that I can only imagine are as soft as the clouds in the sky.”

Fighting over the Duck

Most of my posts are on churches or some inner thoughts. I’ll swerve away from that for now just to show you what’s going on in our household right now.  We have a two year old chocolate lab (Jackson) who is a GREAT dog. We only have to take him out 4 times a day (once in the morning for a walk), once at lunch to whiz, another walk at dinner and a quickie at night. That’s it.  Well, Katie wanted another dog. So for Valentine’s day I got her June. An all black mini-schnauzer who needs to be taken out every hour on the hour to whiz, and then every three hours (even at night) to poo.  We had a good hierarchy in the house.  I was the man, the alpha.  Then it was Katie and Jackson.  Well June thinks she owns the house and our slept schedule.  As you can see in the picture above, she is chewing on a duck…jackson’s duck.  She has her own little rope, but it’s not good enough. She wants Jackson’s duck.  Sometimes she wants jackson’s ears, feet and even his ever moving tail.  But mostly it’s the duck. She wants what she can’t have.

We’re working on the sleep schedule.  Katie sets an alarm every  3hours for one of us to take her out.  This is supposed to last until she is 10 weeks old. Then we’ll set it every 4 hours until she is 13 weeks old and so on.  It seems to be working so far and I’m getting used to getting up in the middle of the night (or sleeping through the alarm and letting katie get up!!)

Is this what it’s like to have kids? I recommend getting a labrador.
