I don’t like to wear socks. I like to wear REALLY good socks.
I used to never wear socks. I didn’t like them. They never felt right on my feet. But then there was the day. The day I believed the hype and shelled out the money ($6 in a Marshall’s clearance bin) for a pair of white mid calf Smartwool socks. I tried them on as soon as I got in the car. As if they were a brand new Christmas present or the lastest Apple technology. I wanted to see if they lived up to the hype.
Needless to say I walked back in and bought their last 3 pairs. Since then I have been on the hunt for good socks. I still can’t justify spending $$$ on them. But if I can get away with just spending $ then I will. Like the time I walked into REI on the day after Thanksgiving and was welcomed with $15 in giftcards. What did I do? I went to the nearest sales bin and picked up some sweet REI midweight ankle socks and some Pearl Izumi lightweight ankle socks.
If you come to my house, chances are I am wearing one of these pairs of socks…or none at all. (note: one of the smartwool pairs was lost in a nostalgic attempt to warm my socks on a potbelly stove in Michigan one winter’s morn. Don’t try this. fire is the result).
I still don’t like wearing socks, but I love wearing REALLY GOOD socks.
